A new season of Entourage: a different direction or more recycled plotlines?

Entourage returns to HBO for its sixth season tonight. Like any average television series, Entourage has naturally lost its freshness and allure over time. In fact, I’d say that the series started its decline about three seasons ago and has plateaued in quality ever since. I used to be a huge fan until I realized how transparent and boring it has become.

It’s really just my frustration with the progress of Vince’s career and his annoying lackadaisical attitude about everything. The supporting characters of Turtle and Drama have grown one-dimensional and Ari isn’t really enough to save the series from its stagnant plot development.

Aside from showcasing a glamourized bachelor life and providing scenes saturated with beautiful women, the only other selling point of the series is the caliber of the guest appearances. Lebron and Lil Wayne are actually rumored to make a cameo sometime this season.

For those who have never watched and/or need to catch up, this video does a sufficient job of compressing five seasons of Entourage into a two-and-a-half minute video:
